Now some lawmakers are expressing concerns that a system that has at times been overwhelmed, now is using some foster families to house unaccompanied migrant children. However, it turns out the refugee foster program is actually decades old, and some say it could be a better placement than residential shelters including one in Chattanooga.

FLINT, Mich - A proposal by Bethany Christian Services is in the works to house dozens of unaccompanied migrant children at a former nursing home in Alma that was forced to close due to COVID-19. Bethany Christian Services Executive Branch Director Krista Stevens says right now the plan calls for 36 children to stay short term at the facility while they work to reconnect them with their family.
